Livestock Breeding Services Authority

Livestock Breeding Services Authority was established in 2014, enacted under LBSA Act, 2014. The authority is mandated to regulate the provision of breeding services according to the provisions of the act, raise awareness regarding standards and quality of breeding services, and conserve and develop local genetic resources in the country.
Breed Improvement is an indispensable component of a livestock development of a country. As a regulatory and monitoring body, the role of authority is to set the standards for both the public and private sectors and develop a close liaison between public and private entities involved in breed improvement for the regulatory framework and uplifting the private sector where appropriate necessary in the public interest. It is envisioned that LBSA is on the way to collaborate with its stakeholders to help the province of Punjab identify and establish its superior genetic breeds through effective breeding strategies and breed improvement with the implementation of regulations and their enforcement throughout the region.
LBSA is adopting the globally harmonized science-based standards for evaluating, registration, and monitoring breeding service providers, including breeders’ associations, farmers, and SPUs.
